PGA was selected to conduct a technology assessment of the Houston Health Department headquarters building in Houston, Texas. The building is 7 stories tall, 130,000 SF, approximately 40 years old, with an aged and non-standards compliant, technology infrastructure. PGA recently completed a design to build new MDF and IDF rooms, electrical redundancy, HVAC improvements, fiber optic and copper structured cabling system, data network design consisting of over 30 network switches, wireless LAN, access control system, and digital video surveillance system. A challenging component of the design was to conduct the upgrade with minimal impact on operations as the health depart is considered critical infrastructure to the city of Houston during a global pandemic.
