The new lab facility, covering 75,000 square feet, is being constructed on 1.6 acres off Mockingbird Lane in Dallas' Southwestern medical district. This Biosafety Level 3 (BSL-3) lab will be certified to study airborne infectious agents and toxins. Its purpose is to centralize testing and research services for Dallas County Health and Human Services, with a focus on infectious diseases. The project is funded by the American Rescue Plan Act’s State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds (SLRFR), and construction began in March 2024. PGA provided consulting, design, and construction administration for audio visual, security, telecommunications and IT infrastructure and included the preparation of drawings and specifications to be included with a comprehensive set of construction documents developed by the architect.
