Port of Houston

PGA Engineers is currently in design to provide a new fiber optic link between two sides of the Houston Ship Channel at the Turning Basin Terminal. To accomplish this, a directional bore technique is being designed that will end up 150 meters long and 20 meters deep. The existing wireless link across the channel will become the secondary mode of communications and the new fiber optic cable will be the primary. PGA Engineers is also providing transition strategies to minimize downtime while the cutover takes place due to the critical and security-sensitive nature of the link.

Project

To design underground, under water mechanisms to support wireless communications in an area where security is of an utmost concern and to plan a way to keep the communications channels running during the transition to the new mechanism.
