Shah Gas Development Project, United Arab Emirates (UAE)

As a consulting engineer to Honeywell Process Solutions, PGA Engineers is developing a design for an extreme-weather, industrial Wi-Fi system to be used throughout the plant.

Shah, about 180 kilometers (112 miles) from the city of Abu Dhabi, poses a technical challenge because the plant sits in an extremely hot location with large sand dunes and sand storms. Scheduled for completion by the third quarter of 2014, Shah will cost $10 billion. The plant will process 1 billion cubic feet of sour gas into about 500 million cubic feet of fuel a day; 4,400 tons of natural-gas liquids a day; 35,000 barrels a day of condensates and 9,200 metric tons a day of sulfur.

Project

Design an industrial Wi-Fi system to be used plant-wide, taking into consideration the extreme weather conditions of the area.
